An eagle fell among chickens the other day and lived like them not knowing he could fly until something happended.
So also many Christians are living below God's purpose and vision for their lives. One key reason for this is sin, another is ignorance.
So let's deal with the ignorance question.. who am I really in Christ?
1. I am a child of a King. John 1:12. Not just an ordinary King but the King of kings and Lord of lords. I have special privileges belonging to me as a result of this relationship e.g.
◦ easy access to the King. Rom 5:2
◦ ability to activate the King's army of angels, in fact we have a 24 hour body guard of angels looking after us,
◦ access to the Kings wealth and influence across the world etc.
2. I am an extension of God here on the earth. He left me here on earth for a purpose and He has given me all authority and power to fulfill that purpose here on earth. I am not just living for myself buy ultimately am an ambassador for heaven here on the face of the earth 2 Cor 5:20.
◦ Which means heavenly laws take precedence in my life over earthly laws.
◦ Which means I can decree a thing and it shall be established, just like my Father 1 Cor 4:20
3. I am a special chosen breed of people. I am not really the same with everybody else, I am different. 1 Peter 1:9. Not just me but my family after me. A holy nation, holiness means obedience to God. Our purpose is to bring glory and honor to the Name of the Lord.
4. I am a precious jewel in the sight of my God Mal 3:17. There is someone up there who loves me so much that He did not mind to suffer and die so that I can be delivered from destruction and have a better life. Since then, He has not left me alone but He's steadily working on me so that I will achieve my destiny and purpose in life. I am his lifetime project. Eph 2:10.
5. I am more than a conqueror. So yes I run into all kinds of battles and challenges while on the surface of the earth but yet I overcome and conquer because I do not fight alone but someone greater and stronger in me fights for me. Rom 8:37.
Why then am I not experiencing God in these ways?
One problem might be sin. When we fall into sin, several things happen
1. Satan is happy and increases his accusation of us. He tries to keep us in bondage based on that sin e.g. the boy that stole the chicken
2. We become full of guilt and shame and then we slowly begin to draw away from God. We become fearful and run away from our shadow. Pro 28:1.
3. God is unhappy and is actively looking for ways to get us back e.g. Navigator. Romans 5:8
What is sin?
1. Sin is outright or even partial disobedience of God and His laws
2. God gives us some clues in Gal 5:19 - 21
What should we do then?
God wants us to live a holy life while we are on the face of this earth. Holiness is being free from the shackles of sin.
1 Peter 5:13 – 17 gives us some clues on how we can live holy before our Father while still on the earth.
1. Prepare your minds for action. The first place sin starts is in the mind so deal with the issue of sin here. Make up your mind that you will not play with sin. Not even for a joke or for laughs. Be like Joseph who ran when tempted to sin. Psalm 1:1-3
2. Make up your mind to obey whatever God says to you. This is holiness. Keep an alert mind and nature about you. Do not just live carelessly.
3. Keep the hope of your calling ahead of you
4. Understand you're not alone in this battle you have 2 fantastic resources to help you
◦ Other believers who can sharpen and correct you and speak into your lives when required. That's why being a lone ranger Christian is not a good idea at all.
◦ The Holy Spirit who is always with you everywhere you go and can be there when no one else is around. Learn to call on Him to deliver you out of every tempting situation. In fact determine that you will not be in a place where you know the Holy Spirit is not likely to go with you because then you lost your covering.
4. When you fall, come back to God ASAP.. don't dilly dally in the mud and enjoy the mud because you'll be tempted to go back. Get back up again. Repent and confess your sin. Ask for forgiveness and God will surely take you back. Repent means turning around 180 degree not just saying sorry.
You are blessed!
